is the ball supposed to bounce really weirdly once you get to the higher levels?

The ball does change speed and characteristics after you pass Level 20 to make the game more difficult.

Yes the ball does all sorts of crazy things in later levels. Once you get past level 40 the ball often goes straight through your "bat". I'd kept all five lives & lost them very quickly all on one level.

I noticed even before that level once in a while the ball wouldn't stop when it hit my paddle, it just continued through and made me lose a life. =\

Certainly makes it more challenging, if not impossible.

Have you got a spare 3 hours to try to regain a high score?!

No way...not unless someone else beats me. $50 is still a very nice prize in my opinion, plus there's no guarantee I could even beat your score if I wasted another 3 hours of my life
